Performers

Stop in at the dance tent often! There will be a variety of ethnic and traditional dances to watch, and many opportunities to participate and learn. Here are the talented groups and individuals appearing this year.

Saturday 

The La Crosse Hmong Dancers started in 2000, led by Gina Ly Yang.  They promote and preserve Hmong cultural dance and enhance and enrich Hmong girls' knowledge, interest, and pride in their culture and heritage. Come watch and learn a few basic moves during their performance on Saturday, 12-12:45

Amanda's Academy of Dance
is proud to offer the widest selection of dance styles in the Coulee Region.  AAD has intimate class settings, for more one-on-one student attention!  By reaching out to all, regardless of age or ability, we strive to share our love for dance with everyone.  Downtown La Crosse 608-785-7543. www.amandasacademy.com  See them in action Saturday, 1:00- 1:45.

Rince Mo Chroi (“Rinka mo kree”), means “Dance, my love.” This Irish dance school encourages self confidence and creativity, while teaching both traditional and modern Irish dance styles.Want to learn an Irish Jig? How about a Ceili dance? Join us to dance, learn about the culture or just watch a floating Slip Jig or a thunderous Treble Reel! Saturday, 2:00-2:45
 
ClogJam Cloggers perform Appalachian-style clogging to bluegrass music, also taking this folk dance into pop, country and Irish music. Together for over 7 years this diverse group has performed all around the Coulee Region. Visit www.clogjam.com for free lessons, fall schedule of classes or to set up a performance. Join them in kicking up your heels on Saturday at 3:00. 
 
Judson Steinback plays and teaches mountain dulcimer, penny whistle, and folk percussion instruments and is dedicated to perpetuating traditional music and dance. He teaches at Three Rivers Waldorf School, directs the student band The Four Potatoes, and plays with Grand Picnic. He’ll gather some fellow musicians for good old time dance music. There’ll be a caller on hand to teach and call some easy and fun square and round dances. Join the home-made fun, 4:00-5:00 Saturday.

Sunday
 
The Sahara Desert Dancers, formed in 1992, promotes Middle Eastern Dance (Belly Dance) as a form of art. Belly Dance is a way of expressing oneself through music. Its practice is shaped by each woman's personality, intuition and creativity. The dancers will perform and invite audience participation in basic movements, Sunday starting at noon.
 

Stan Breitlow has taught ballroom and Latin dance in La Crosse and Winona for 12 years. He and Molly Misany teach ballroom dance in the Winona and La Crosse area. Visit them at www.stanmolly.com They will perform and teach to the music of Café Accordion Orchestra, whose repertoire is the romantic, gypsy-influenced valse-musette. To this they add swing, ballads, tangos, cha chas, rumbas, and cumbias. They’re said to be full of French flare, Latin heat and Bohemian attitude! Get ready to swing and sway, 1:15-2:30 Sunday.

Watch as the versatile Winona International Dancers perform dances from places far and wide, such as Greece, Norway, Poland, Germany and America. The audience can step lively into our diverse dance heritage as the group teaches some fun and easy to learn dances. Your world tour starts at 2:45 on Sunday.
