Eddie Allen

Eddie lives upriver in Trempealeau, WI. He thinks he played his first Folk Fest in 1978. He continues to sporadically stumble onto a festival stage or into any number of public houses where strong drink is served to sing and tell bawdy tales of laggards, rounders, horse thieves, roustabouts, card sharks and pickpockets with whom he has traveled through the years. Such tales and songs are rendered as if they are, perhaps, partially true when, in fact, they are completely true. When asked by potential concertgoers to characterize the nature of his performances, he tells them “it’s very much like opera, much better than it sounds.” While Mr. Allen has no visible means of support and no evident skills – musical or otherwise- his audiences always leave smiling because they either liked the show or they’re happy it’s over.
